A Story About Cars

I have a friend who worked as a manager at a public accounting firm. One day, as she parked her car outside the office, she realized something was backward.

One of the new associates, who was two levels lower than her on the totem pole, had a beautiful new BMW. The senior associate, who was one level below her, had a brand-spanking new Honda Accord, similar to hers but nicer. The senior manager – one level above her – had a five or six year-old Honda. And the one in charge of them all – the partner – had an eleven year-old Toyota.

Yes, they all had foreign cars. But that’s not the point. The point is that you need to buy a really nice car when you start working at a public accounting firm because you’ll likely have it for a long, long time.
